We woke up and had very little to do today. After a nice sleep in, we got up, took showers, and made a breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and eggs. We all chilled on the coach until noon or so before Singsong and I headed over to Grocery Outlet with Biscuit and Missile. We got a few snacks, bars, and stuff for dinner tomorrow night, and then walked over to the gear shop. I ended up buying a super lightweight t-shirt so that I had something besides my one shirt to wear both in town and on the trail. We got a bunch of bars, two dehydrated backpacking meals, some electrolyte tablets, and new tips for my trekking poles. They came off when I did Mt. Whitney, and I’ve been rocking plastic nubs since then. We also bought some bug spray to deal with the massive number of mosquitoes on the trail.
Feeling mostly ready, we headed back to our condo to put away a few groceries and organize before heading back to Vons to finish up our resupply. Unfortunately, we got sucked into a very comfortable couch and ended up doing nothing on our phones for the next 4 hours. It was well-needed, and since we had another zero tomorrow, we could take our time with everything.
In the evening, Wilco, Singsong, and I went over to Harry and Kris’s RV for a beer and good conversation, and we got to see how they had set everything up for their RV trip they plan to take for the rest of the calendar year. They have a few weeks left in California, and then they plan to drive across the northern part of the United States to get all the way to Maine! We stayed and chatted with them, pet their dogs, and then piled into their truck and headed over to Mammoth Brewing Company for some dinner. We met our other friends there and had a great evening eating, drinking, and catching up with other hikers we hadn’t seen in a few weeks.
Harry and Kris dropped us back off at the condo, and then Wilco, Singsong, and I started watching the next FX series, Under the Banner of Heaven. It’s a Jon Krakauer novel turned TV series, and it was excellent! The others went in the hot tub for a while and then joined us. We went to bed around 11:00, looking forward to another day of nothing tomorrow.
